The Weatheralls Primary School

EYFS

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to you and your child to The Weatheralls Primary School. Some of you may already have a child in our nursery, some of you may be new to our school, however you are all embarking on this new journey together; a child entering their first year at big school!

The first stage of this journey begins on Thursday 13th June at 6.00pm where we would like to invite you to our New Reception Parents, meeting. At this meeting you will be able to meet reception staff, visit our indoor and outdoor classrooms and gather lots of information about your child’s first few weeks and the year ahead in school. We will have Mrs Pritchard from our school office present at the meeting and she will be providing you with the opportunity to see our school uniform and place orders. We also hope to have representatives from our catering company offering samples of our school lunches for you to try plus members of the school Home School Learning Association ( HSA) for you to talk too regarding how you can become more involved in the life of the school.  Children and siblings are welcome to attend this meeting if needed.

Below are the dates for our transition activities before September. In September we will have home visits, an open day and small group sessions before the opportunity to stay for lunch and then a fulltime flexi timetable. This will be discussed in detail at the meeting on Thursday 13th June.

On Wednesday 3rd July and Thursday 4th July we are opening up our classrooms and inviting families in for a stay and play session. These sessions give children the opportunity to wonder through the reception classrooms, play with the activities that are set out, meet potential friends and begin to form relationships with the adults who will be working in the Reception classes with them in September. The sessions are from 3.30pm – 5.00pm, please come and play at any time between these times. There will be a sign up sheet at the June meeting for you to express your interest.

We would also like to invite you and your child to a Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Thursday 11th July from 10:00am – 11.30am.  This will be another chance for you to visit the outdoor classroom and meet some of the people that will be working with your family next year. Parents stay with their child which is a nice opportunity for you to begin the process of getting to know other parents and carers of the children in your child’s year group.  Once again, this event is for new reception families and is part of our transition programme. The Weatheralls nursery will be closed in the morning as they too are running an event for their new families. Just bring a teddy and come along to the Reception playground through the silver nursery gate and join us for some fun and picnic snacks provided by the school HSA!

Nursery will be open in the afternoon for those that usually attend on a Thursday for your lunch and afternoon session. You can take your child round to the nursery at the normal time of 12 ‘o clock – you will still need to bring your own pack lunch as usual.

Also, on Thursday 11th July, there will be a whole school open evening from 3.30pm – 5pm that you might like to come along to and see your new indoor classroom and teacher again!

Once again, thank you for choosing The Weatheralls Primary School for your child and we look forward to meeting you and your family. If you have any concerns at all about the forthcoming journey into Reception, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will hope to reassure you and put your mind at rest.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Weatheralls and starting our journey together.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Amy Baker
